Since 2010, the Crown of the Continent Guitar Workshop and Festival has brought world-class performers and faculty together with dedicated guitar students of all levels. Whether you are a beginner or professional gigging musician there are courses available to fit your interests and expand your abilities. Crown always offers a wide variety of genre instruction and this summer will present classes in Blues, Jazz, Classical, Rock, Americana & Fingerstyle Performance, Singer/Songwriter, & Beginning lessons taught by a selection of Crown’s Artists in Residence. Note that some advanced classes require a video audition submission for consideration and acceptance. Space is limited to 10-20 students per class, depending on the genre/class. Classes will fill up, so register soon to ensure your place in the 2017 Workshop!
Crown provides a unique approach to guitar education; intensive workshops led by phenomenal faculty, guest instruction and master-classes by Festival Artists in Residence, daily electives, nightly jams and main-stage Festival concerts.
For one week, the grounds of the rustic horse ranch, Flathead Lake Lodge, become an epicenter for guitar. Boat docks become private practice spots. The lodge patio becomes the best acoustic jam space. This is a place that provides guitar at its highest level in the beautiful splendor of Montana.

“This is like a guitar player’s dream.
This festival, this workshop, just being here.” – Patty Larkin
“Crown was definitely a boost in motivation, experiencing all these players that are better than you and knowing that they have worked hard to get their results. It is kind of an eye opener, that you can do this too if you just stay at it. Just go for it. Really.” – Haakon Kjeldsberg (2015 Zappa Family Fellowship)
“To work on and talk about music on this level
is always something special, but to have it happen
in a place like this makes it incredible.” – Pat Metheny
“No matter your genre, your skills will reach
a new level in a supportive,personal atmosphere
with superb instructors and amazing musicians.” – Joe Bonamassa
“If you’re a guitar player, you get a
lot of just about everything you want.
It was a great experience.” – Robben Ford
“Crown is like a crazy old western place that is removed from reality in this beautiful way that basically lets you remember why you started playing guitar in the first place. Everything else is taken out of the way, every other distraction, and you have this one thing to focus on and that is really beautiful and pretty unique.” – Josh Turner (2015 Chairman’s Fellowship)
The number of students in each class is limited to provide each student the opportunity for personal interaction with the instructor.
